2012

Postby Darkstar » Wed Dec 16, 2009 9:04 pm

I just watched this film and it is awsome, though I have to say that the main characters would have died so many times through out it, but still watchable.
How close it is to the Mayan's beliefs is debatable, I've read on the theory of crustal displacement in many other books years and years before the Mayan'e beliefs became popular and am wondering how true it could be, with the scientific community still split on the whole subject I guess were just going to have to wait till December 21st 2012 to find out!!!

I know this is not about the film, which is so much hollywood drama, but the facts behind the story.
this is quite an interesting subject, and obviously open to much debate.
I have noticed that as the date nears, therefore the press interest and hype, that everybody is jumping on the bandwagon to make a fast buck.
I was at circle a month or so ago, and a portion of a new book was read out to us, basically claiming that virtually all of the ancient scripts and texts mention 2012. this is so wrong, I have studied the mayan calendar prophesies (or rather implications) for many years, and it is evident that although there are a couple of vague references to this endworld date, the majority of ancient civilisations make no such claims. and to claim that they were there all along is just so much hogwash (in fact I would call it fraudulent). Surely the great proponents of alien visitations/ancient civilisations such as Daniken, Velikovsky and co. would have been like a dog with a bone, and sure as hell, we would have been made aware of the coming apocalypse decades ago. I must admit I was incensed at the claims that were being read to me.
People are saying that the current unrest in the world points to an escalation in world affairs, and we are just going to get worse in the future. BUT excuse me, what about the two world wars we have gone through, with countless millions dying, doesn't that count? The current unrest is nothing new.
My belief is that it is not an endworld date, with the world opening up and destroying us all but an emergence of a higher psychic awareness for humankind. The age of Aquarius is approaching!

I hear you there archie, there are a lot of programs on about the end of the world senarios that range from meteors to crustal displacement and the date given in the Mayan calander for the end of the next cycle of the calander is 2013 not 2012 and it does not mean it will be the end of the world, just the end of an era and the begining of a new one.
The idea of crustal displacement is not a new theory, as I said previously I have read about this in books years and years ago and there is some archaological evidence for such a catastrophy, there have been several sites around the world where bones of ancient animals have been found mixed together in such a pattern as to sugest that they were all slambed into the crevases they were found in by some terrible force, whether this is the force of the crust moving or a world wide tsunami is still unknown, but it is enough evidence to cause some concerns.
The world will always follow cycles, we may be speeding it up or not, but the world will always change and we will have to change with it, we as a species obviously never learn from our past mistakes, as archie has pointed out, and maybe its time that we did, after all we all came from Africa and were all one people so lets start acting like it.
