Types of hauntings

From what I understand and also from what I have been able to research, is that most ghost hunters, and people who research the paranormal think there are three basic types of haunting's. The most common of these are the residual or memory type of haunting. The other less common is the intelligent haunt and third is the demonic or evil spirit type of haunting. Some paranormal researchers also believe in a fourth type of haunting or poltergeist type of activity.

Is this a haunted house? Perhaps!

Residual haunting

Basically I'm a skeptic, therefore I have a real problem with the idea of a residual haunt. I have tried to envision how an event from the past, no matter how traumatic that event may have been. Could imprint itself upon the environment. The event would have had to cause an alteration of the space-time continuum itself or manipulate matter on a subatomic or quantum level. And personally I just don't think that's possible. I'm not arrogant enough to think that I have all the answers, therefore perhaps it is possible. But even then, I just cannot wrap my mind around that possibility. So I hate to say this but I just do not believe in that kind of a haunting. I think that any sounds, voices or apparitions a paranormal investigator might see or hear are only in their own imagination and probably created in their minds by the spookiness of their surroundings. And any videos, images or audio evidence is, in my mind not credible because it is too easily fabricated or manipulated with computer technology with imaging editing software.

Intelligent haunting

The second type of haunting is the intelligent haunt. This is the type of haunting I am more likely to believe in. I do believe that the ghost or spirit of a person who have passed away may continue to exist in our reality for some time. If these ghosts or spirits do exist than I think they may be able to communicate with us if they desire, and they may also be able to manipulate matter enough to form an apparition and make themselves visible. I also believe that anyone who is sincere about investigating the paranormal should focus their efforts on what is more likely to be real. And in my opinion an intelligent haunting is much more likely to be real than simply apparitions or sounds of a past event.

Demonic haunting

The third type of haunting is the demonic or evil spirit type. Again like I said on the home page of this site, I do not believe in demons, devils or anything of that nature. These ideas have been placed in our collective consciousness by religion. They have been put there by religious leaders throughout the centuries to keep their followers in line and in a state of fear. I compare it to parents who tell their small children that the boogie man will get them if they don't mind, or do as their told. If there are evil spirits, they are not demons or devils from hell or anywhere else. They are simply the souls of individuals who may have died, and were evil in life and are now, the evil spirits. If the souls of people like Adolph Hitler and others like him still walk the earth, then these are the evil spirits that many have come to fear.

poltergeist

The fourth type of haunting is the poltergeist type is simply unexplained noises, doors opening and closing on their own, lights going on and off, or objects being moved. These things are sometimes attributed to psycho kinetic events usually caused by someone. According to theory it usually involves an adolescent girl who may be experiencing emotional turmoil in her life. I'm very open minded to this type of haunting because I personally have had a psycho kinetic event in my own life that I cannot explain, and that I believe to be very real. Because of personal experience this is the type of haunting I believe in the most. There are even some main stream scientists who believe this type of activity may be possible.
